Lloyd did some investigating to find out the story of Tudor and Elizabethan furniture. The Tudor Period Between 1485 and 1603 is what is termed the Tudor Period. The House of Tudor was an English Royal House, founded by Henry VII. Many people will be familiar with the red and white Tudor Rose from the period. The Tudors ruled England, Ireland and Wales with 5 monarchs during its time. Tudor furniture was mainly constructed from solid oak. It was bulky and very heavy with carved designs. Our fabric correspondent, Elly, gives us a quick autumn trend update: The WB design team attended the recently launched Autumn Fabric Fair at Manchester’s Old Trafford Stadium a couple of weeks back. New collections across the board made a bold statement with stunning plains, textured and patterned velvets in a variety of qualities. Autumnal hues are still going strong and the trend for earthy tones, blush pinks and coral continues into the end of the year. Equally strong are eye catching shades of green from teal, emerald to indigo. On display at Warwick was a variety of collections specializing in ‘texture’.
