Christmas markets date back to the Middle-Ages in Germany, with Munich’s market being mentioned back in 1310. Nowadays you can find them in many countries world-wide, including right here on your doorstep. Ware, our home town, has its own called Dickensian Evening where stalls, food, drink and music start the festivities on the first Friday of December.

Bath Christmas Market

Running from 28th Nov-15th Dec this award-winning market boasts a whopping 150 chalets, as well as live music, events, ice skating and glow-in-the-dark crazy golf! Listed on their website is a list of chalets which includes plenty of food, drink, gifts, homewares and more.

While you visit you can also explore the historical city of Bath to discover gorgeous Georgian architecture, shops, glass blowing, cinema and of course its famous Roman Baths.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Hosted in the centre of London Winter Wonderland opens from 21st Nov-5th Jan. It has a dizzying array of attractions – ice rink, restaurants, shows, stalls, circus, Santa Land, ice bar, comedy club; the list goes on and on. There is plenty of time to visit with opening times 10am-10pm every day, but even better than that – it’s free!

The Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is family friendly as you would expect, with whole areas dedicated to keeping the Christmas magic alive for your little ones; meet Father Christmas in Santa Land, see Paddington™ on Ice or the Mr Men and Little Miss.

Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market

Winchester Cathedral is a stunning venue for a Christmas Market. It is known to be one of the largest Cathedrals in Europe and is the longest Gothic Cathedral of all, meaning there is plenty of space to host its festivities!

Voted 2nd Best Christmas Market in the UK by Booking.com last year, over 100 stalls can be found offering gifts, decorations, food, drinks and more. Over half a million visitors attend this beautiful scene, so be sure to arrive early to make sure you don’t miss out on the bargains!

Edinburgh’s Christmas

Between 16th Nov and 14th Jan Edinburgh hosts its annual Christmas Market. Once again boasting live events and a large number of stalls, this is the place to be if you are in or near Scotland at Christmastime. For more information on the events, stalls and how to get there click here.

Belfast Christmas Market

This event opens in the City Hall grounds on 16th November. You can treat your palette to a delicious variety of food from all over the world, including of course the traditional German Bratwursts. Complete with bar, stalls, and of course the town of Belfast itself to explore, it is definitely worth a visit.
