The third Thursday of each quarter is National Get To Know Your Customers Day.
With the rise of the internet, the personal element of business can be lost very easily, so this national day gives companies the opportunity to know their customers better. As a company that has been in business for over 90 years we at Wood Bros value what our customers think. This personal touch is what we enjoy, and is what makes us stand out from the crowd. So we’ve interviewed a couple of our customers to get to know what they love about Old Charm.

Our first interviewee was Carol, who has been collecting Old Charm for 30 years!
When did you buy your first piece of Old Charm, what was it, and which wood colour?
It was in the 80s – probably around 1985 after moving to Ware in 1982. It was a cupboard, for which we also have a top box, in the Chestnut Heritage colour.
What drew you to Old Charm, what did you love about it?
The quality – it never wears out so you don’t have to replace it!
How many pieces do you have now?
12, including a dining table and chairs, a TV unit and a one-off footstool made by one of the apprentices and auctioned off.
What would your next piece be?
That’s a tricky question! Probably a sideboard to go in the dining room to match my tables and chairs!
If you could design a piece of OC, what would it be and why?
I think it would be a coffee table with a lifting top to store things inside, and a bookshelf underneath.
Our second interviewee was John, who has also been collecting Old Charm since the ‘80s.
When did you buy your first piece of Old Charm, what was it, and which wood colour?
It was exactly 30 years ago, in 1988. We bought 2 sideboards with dresser tops with the leadlight doors on, in the light oak colour.
What drew you to Old Charm, what did you love about it?
We were looking for good quality furniture to furnish the house that I built. We needed all new things, and Old Charm is great quality.

How many pieces do you have now?
About 17 pieces I think!
What would your next piece be?
I think some smaller chairs to go round our dining table. [Edit: having looked around our showroom, there are a few more pieces!]
If you could design a piece of OC, what would it be and why?
I am a great traditionalist – I don’t think you could beat what you’ve got already!
Is there anything you would change about it?
No – I can’t find a fault in it! Ours is still in showroom condition despite moving house 3 times, and with it being exposed to children and grandchildren! I would recommend it for anybody.
